The word buddha is a title. The proper name of this individual was Guatama Siddhartha. The word Buddha means the Awakened One. From the Sanskrit root Budh, which means to wake. Or to know. So we could say Buddha means the man who woke up.
Alan Watts cuts to the root of what meditation really is all about. Meditative practice has no motive, except to experience the present moment. The goal of meditation is quite simple.
